Preparing for battle

  1. Place the objectives at A and B.
  2. The Axis players nominates at least half of their platoons to be held off the table in Reserve. Axis Reserves arrive at the Belvedere (C).
  3. The Axis players may now deploy one Infantry Platoon and one Gun Platoon 25cm of A. If the Axis players. The German players then Deploy their remaining platoons within 40cm of B.
  4. The Allied players deploy their entire force in the Allied Deployment Area not more than 50cm from their own table edge.
  5. The Axis players now deploy any Warrior teams that are not part of a platoon and all Independent teams within 20cm of either A or B.
  6. The Allied players now Deploys any Warrior teams that are not part of a platoon and all Independent teams.

Beginning the Battle

  1. The Allied players has the first turn. As both sides are in Prepared Positions, all platoons may begin the game Dug In.

Ending the Battle

The battle ends on or after turn six when either:
  • either side holds both objectives, or
  • at the start of the Allied players’ tenth turn (remember to check Company Morale if necessary before determining who won).

Deciding Who Won

A player gains two Victory Points for holding A and one Victory Point for holding B at the end of the game. If an objective is contested at the end of the game, neither side gain any Victory Points from that objective.

If the Axis players have the same or more Victory Points than the Allied players, they win the game. The staunch defence of the road bridge has repelled the Allied assault and they will have to spend precious time to regroup for another attempt.

If the Allied players has more Victory Points than the Axis players, they win the game. The bold assault has forced the Axis defenders to give up the road bridge, and the way to Arnhem is open!
